Community Update: Trees, Clubhouse Repairs, and Summer Activities

As we move into the summer months, I wanted to provide residents with updates on several ongoing community issues and projects. While things have been relatively quiet recently, there are still a few items worth keeping everyone informed about.

Oak Tree Removal Project Remains Uncertain

Earlier this year, many residents voiced concerns regarding Brevard County's planned oak tree removal project. Following community feedback, the county advised that the project had been placed on hold pending further review.

Since that announcement, however, additional trees throughout the neighborhood have been tagged, including trees along Squires Drive, King Richard Road, and other areas of the community. Additionally, a resident recently spoke with a tree contractor who stated they were preparing a bid for tree removal work within the neighborhood.

At this time, the Sherwood Area Community Alliance has not received any additional communication from the county regarding the project's status, scope, or timeline. I have contacted county staff requesting an update and clarification regarding the continued tree tagging and contractor activity. Once additional information becomes available, it will be shared with the community.

Clubhouse Code Enforcement Update

Many residents have also inquired about the status of the former clubhouse property.

A new code enforcement case was opened on April 16, 2026. A Notice of Violation was posted on the property in early May, and certified mail was sent to the property owner, Milton, on May 1. Records indicate the notice was received on May 5.

The current information available indicates that the owner is in the process of obtaining and completing the necessary repairs to address the violations. We will continue monitoring the case and provide updates if there are any significant developments.

Summer Community Activities

As expected, summer has arrived with its usual Florida heat, and neighborhood activity has slowed somewhat as residents focus on vacations, family activities, and staying cool.

I have been working with our neighbor Louis regarding a potential summer community event. Unfortunately, scheduling conflicts on my end have delayed our ability to meet and finalize plans. We are still hoping to organize something for residents later this summer and will share details once plans come together.

Robinhood Pond and Park Maintenance Concerns

I have recently contacted Brevard County Parks and Recreation regarding maintenance concerns at the county-owned pond and park area on Robinhood Drive, specifically related to trash collection and general upkeep.

Unfortunately, I have not yet received a response. If that continues, I will be reaching out to supervisory staff in an effort to obtain answers and encourage more consistent maintenance of the area.

In the meantime, if you notice overflowing trash containers or litter around the pond area and are willing to lend a hand, please feel free to bag any loose garbage. I've been doing this periodically myself to help keep the area looking its best until the county addresses the issue.
